Workers in rural India face several hurdles and challenges to access their own hard earned money from banks and other disbursement agencies. These challenges are referred to as ‘last mile challenges’.
To understand some of these issues, LibTech India did a collaborative research project, funded by the Research Centre, Azim Premji University. In this project, people’s experiences of the last-mile of payment in government to citizen payments are studied through analysing secondary data and collecting primary data from 1947 households in Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. We present our findings and insights from our work over the years in the report titled “Length of the Last Mile: Delays and Hurdles in NREGA Wage Payments.”
