This team started working together as a part of the ‘Combating Corruption with Mobile Phones’ project of Stanford University. As a team, we work on issues of social policy, specifically on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and Public Distribution Systems.
In the light of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, and social audits, much work remains to be done to translate complex pieces of information into an easy-to-digest format. This entails having a strong field immersion to understand the core issues plaguing access to benefits and information along with a keen sense on using and shaping technologies with a human-centred design.
We work with various civil society organisations in Jharkhand, Andhra, Telangana, Bihar and Maharashtra. The group focuses on developing usable data dashboards, information and communication technologies to improve dissemination and grievance redress systems. The group uses insights from the field engagement and research to advocate for improvement in policy and practice.
